Programs offered by FET are designed to address the nation's talent gap that focuses on delivering academic programs that align with the nation’s demand for highly-trained individuals to fill high-demand jobs in engineering and information technology. Programs in FET are designed to meet the nation’s talent shortage and insure that all of our students are well-positioned to compete for jobs in Indonesia and abroad.
Students will learn, solve and analyze problems using technological tools and collaborative learning strategies across the curriculum. STEAM curriculum and projects are required of all students during the first two years of study at SU regardless of their major. This includes college algebra, biology, chemistry and physics. Numeracy and functional knowledge of key STEAM concepts is required of all graduates and better prepares them for the jobs of the future. This is driven by our understanding that the majority of high-paying jobs in the future will be high-skill and require strong STEAM knowledge. Students also develop their ability to communicate effectively, refine their presentation skills, and learn how to work in groups/teams.
Students in FET enjoy extensive tutoring in specially designated learning spaces at Sampoerna University. Because STEAM competence is vital to the success of students majoring in engineering and technology, all FET students have access to help them succeed in their coursework.
The curriculum offered by FET at Sampoerna University has been developed to not only meet national requirements, but to exceed them. In partnership with leading American universities, students can complete a double degree (engineering) or degree supplements (computer science and creative digital design). All students graduate from FET with both national degrees and American credentials.
Students are taught by the best faculty in Indonesia with over 75% holding the highest degrees in their respective field. This is five times the national average for Indonesian universities. FET students also benefit from visiting international faculty who spend time in-residence. Visiting faculty hold Ph.D.’s from foreign universities and bring decades of academic and industrial experience to SU.
In support of its engineering program, FET students get to learn with hands-on activities in a world-class engineering lab with the most modern, American-made equipment available. Developed in partnership with Louisiana State University, it replicates the educational and lab learning experience offered to students studying at LSU’s campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. Students in our computer science program have access to the latest generation of hardware and software in our multiple computing facilities. Our Creative Digital Design program offers classes in an Innovation Laboratory, a 3-D Visualization Lab and a state-of-the-art Motion Capture Studio. The quality and array of laboratory facilities and equipment available at SU is unrivaled in Indonesia.

Dr. Aamer has over 19 years of experience in the fields of Industrial Engineering, Management, Training, and Teaching. Throughout his career, he had designed and delivered Training and Capacity Building courses to various international organizations. For his academic contributions, he had been awarded grants from the World Bank, USAID, and UNDP.
During his 17 years at Texas Tech University, Dr. Liman was honored three times as Professor of the Year. He published numerous articles in refereed journals, presented his research at international conferences, and participated in professional societies. He also founded an environmental technology company in China dedicated to the treatments of wastewater.
Dr. Erna has more than twenty-five years of experience as a researcher and scientist in socio-agro-economics and policy studies. She also served as the Program Leader at the Regional Institute/Coordination Centre of the United Nations-ESCAP and a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at Cornell University.
Dr. Iwan was a recipient of Hypercube Scholar, Brubaker Fellowship and Education Merit Fellowship Awards in the U.S. His PhD research revolved around light spectroscopy and synthetic membrane. Upon returning to Indonesia, he assumed leadership positions in several companies before joining Sampoerna University as a chemistry lecturer.
Wafa obtained his master’s degree from National Central University, Taiwan. During his master degree he also became a teaching and research assistant at Complex Liquid Laboratory in Taiwan. His research interest is in computational materials to study electronic and structural properties of materials by using computational methods such as density functional theory (DFT), density functional tight-Binding (DFTB), and semiempirical approaches. He is also interested in doing research in optimization of algorithms in nano clusters.
Dr. Rizcky was part of the Hydrogen Generation & Storage Lab under the Fuel Cell Research Center in Korea Institute of Science & Technology. His research was focused on catalyst development for hydrogen production, which is essential for fuel cell application. He has at least 4 scientific publications under his name.
Mr. Barenz has extensive work experience in mathematics education, first tutoring and then teaching at six U.S. universities. His strong mathematics background has allowed him to pursue study towards a PhD in mathematics and additional degrees in math-related subjects such as finance and economics. Previous international experience includes study abroad in International Finance and Chinese Language at East China Normal University in Shanghai. Mr. Barenz has also worked as a Senior Pricing Analyst in the Property and Casualty division of a large NYSE listed insurance company. Research interests include using mathematics and statistics for investment analysis, credit analysis, banking and insurance analysis, game theory, economic analysis, and numerous other applications. Finally, Mr. Barenz likes to make friends and learn from international students about their languages and cultures.

Dr. Media has served as an academician in educational and research institutions since 1992. She has published more than 100 research papers, conferences, book chapters and books about Engineering and IT. She has secured research grants, awards, and patents in IT-related areas. She is also a member of IEEE, SDIWC, and IACSIT.
Mr. Rodrigo G. Encinar is a visual artist, designer, researcher, lecturer, and mentor. Currently appointed Associate Professor, his main focus of academic interest is Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Motion Capture. His work has been exhibited at international art festivals and art fairs in Spain, Germany, and the U.S.
Dr. Agni has worked on various projects in the field of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for more than 10 years, including systems engineering, project management, telecommunication operations management, and research. In recent years, he has been contributing to the development of various job qualification frameworks in Indonesia.
Fifteen years of experience as a multimedia designer has taught Mrs. Wahyuni to incorporate imagination, insight, creativity, and intuition into her design process. Her pedagogical approach is based on knowledge exchange–her students provide fresh perspectives on the latest technologies and trends, and she complements them with experience in the design industry.

Mechanical engineering plays a critical role in solving the world's grand challenges by producing sustainable energy, providing a safe environment and clean water, building safe and efﬁcient transportation systems, designing new means of energy conversion and storage, and improving mechanical/electrical systems in homes and buildings. The Visual Communication Design (New Media) program is a multidisciplinary program within the Faculty of Science and Technology that utilizes a core of design pedagogy coupled with technology-enhanced teaching and learning to produce graduates capable of creating interactive, digital, visual interfaces for a variety of applications and industries. The multidisciplinary nature of the program means that students will gain core knowledge in design, programming, prototype building (for industrial design), and digital storytelling, with introductions to business and entrepreneurship. Computer science spans the range from theory to programming. Computer Science program offers a comprehensive foundation that permits its graduates to adapt to new technologies and new ideas in computing. Computer science spans a wide range, from theoretical and algorithmic foundations to developments in new areas such as robotics, computer vision, intelligent systems, bioinformatics, and others.
Computer Science graduates (i.e. Computer Scientists) design and develop all types of software from systems infrastructure (operating systems, communications programs, etc.) to application technologies (web browsers, databases, search engines, etc.). The work of computer scientists can be grouped into the following categories:
They design and implement software. Computer scientists take on various programming jobs. They also supervise other programmers, keeping them aware of new approaches.
They devise new ways to use computers. Progress in the computer science areas of networking, database, and human-computer-interface enabled the development of the World Wide Web. Computer science researchers are working with scientists from other fields, e.g. to make robots become practical and intelligent aides, to use databases to create new knowledge, and to use computers to help decipher the secrets of DNA.
They develop effective ways to solve computing problems. For example, computer scientists develop the best possible ways to store information in databases, send data over networks, and display complex images. Their theoretical background allows them to determine the best performance possible, and their study of algorithms helps them to develop new approaches that provide better performance.
